What is Zen Shiatsu?
These bunnies know the art of Zen Shiatsu, in which the practitioner embodies a relaxed, aware presence. Just as this bunny knows, one of the most peaceful ways to touch someone's back is to let gravity do the work: no forcefulness necessary! The result is a very stable, grounded touch that influences the meridians. Unlike the bunny, we don't lay across the recipient- hand do just fine :)
This year I began studying Zen Shiatsu, a hands-on bodywork technique, with foundations in Chinese Medicine. The approach works with the meridian system to balance and harmonize the flow of energy through the body.
Zen Shiatsu offers deep rest, and the alleviation of many musculoskeletal and stress-related symptoms. Zen Shiatsu Chicago reports that it can help with:
anxiety and depression,
low resistance to infection,
neck and shoulder stiffness
strains and sprains and
Recipients are fully clothed, and the session lasts 40 minutes to an hour.
